BOTOX® Cosmetic

Botox® is an extremely effective cosmetic treatment that enhances your skin’s youthful beauty through the softening of fine lines and wrinkles caused by excessive and repeated muscle action. Botox® is used to reduce lines and wrinkles in the face, whilst maintaining a completely natural and refreshed look.

AREAS TREATED

Botox is used primarily to treat the upper half of your face.

  • Glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows)

  • Crow's feet lines (near the eyes)

  • Forehead lines (above the eyebrows)

Botox can also be used to treat TMJ (Temporomandibular joint) pain.

CLINICAL PROCEDURE

Our Doctor will spend time before the treatment listening to your needs and wishes before recommending a plan
to enhance and refresh your natural features.

A photo series is taken during the initial appointment to aid in the development of the BOTOX treatment plan.

It is not necessary to treat all areas during your initial visit, especially if you are new to this type of treatment.
Further treatment can be carried out at a later date depending on the individual response as results become apparent.

The actual time spent administering the treatment takes only minutes. The injections are virtually painless owing to the fact that very fine diabetic needles are used.

HOW BOTOX® WORKS

Botox® works by relaxing the muscles responsible for the formation of facial wrinkles. Theses are called dynamic wrinkles and are most noticeable with extreme facial expressions such as smiling, squinting and frowning. Static lines, which are not caused by muscle activity, may also improve over a period of repeated treatments.

Effectiveness is dependent on the strength of the muscles injected and the individual’s response. This is why we will customize your treatment over time to optimize the results achieved.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Results start to become noticeable several days after treatment and are fully achieved after 14 days. These results last up to 3 months, but can last up to 6 months in younger patients or those who have had several courses of treatment.

Contrary to popular belief, Botox® is not addictive and you will not be worse off once the treatment has faded. If you choose not to have further treatment, these wrinkles will simply return to they way they were initially before any treatment was undertaken.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR TREATMENT?

Anti-wrinkle injections are suitable for anyone who dislikes the appearance of the the fine lines or wrinkles formed due to the excessive use of facial muscles. Generally, most clients will start to consider Botox® during their early 30’s and onwards.

Botox® is unsuitable for

  • Pregnant or lactating women

  • Those who have a known allergy to the drug

  • People suffering from a neuromuscular disorder such as MS, Myasthenia Gravis or Eaton Lambert Syndrome

SIDE EFFECTS OF TREATMENT

There can be a small amount of swelling or redness afterwards around the injection zone.

Occasionally, mild bruising or a slight headache can be experienced temporarily.

IS IT SAFE?

Yes, as long as it is carried out by a suitably trained clinician.

In Canada, only doctors who have undertaken specific training in this area are permitted to offer this type of treatment because of their in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy.

Botox®is prepared from a purified and stabilised form of botulinum toxin (BTN-A) but is not “toxic” when used correctly in the very diluted doses for aesthetic treatment. It has a long history of use in general medicine to treat a wide range of disorders and has been safely and successfully licensed for use as an aesthetic drug since 2002.
